Transforming communities into playful spaces for children in Asia

By Playeum

Across Asia, communities are reimagining what it means to truly support children’s growth and wellbeing. Play is increasingly recognised as a powerful pathway for learning, connection, and development. But meaningful and lasting change depends on more than just providing playful experiences for children. It also requires adults to reflect on how they see, support, and relate to the children in their lives.

Our Executive Director Charlotte joined regional play advocates Ada Wong from Playright Association in Hong Kong and Amp Dekong of Leeway in Thailand for Play Connect Singapore’s online dialogue “Transforming Communities into Playful Spaces for Children in Asia”. Together, they explore how play can be sustained beyond individual programmes and embedded into the everyday environments that shape children’s lives, from homes and schools to wider community systems.

We thank Aby from Play Connect for inviting us, as well as all the play advocates from over 7 countries who generously contributed their voices to the conversation.
