What's On?
Come discover how you can make your mark through art! Check out our list of
drop-in art activities and visual exhibits available for all ages throughout the day.
Kindly note that these activities will get you to dive into some messy fun so do wear a t-shirt that you don't mind getting paint on, or better yet, a white t-shirt that you'd like to have a new design on!
From building a miniature playground out of food scraps to discovering movement and more, we'll be exploring different ways of mark-making through workshops.
Catch young artists in their element as they rove around the event space and watch them work their magic live!
Workshops are available for sign up on the day of the event and on a first-come, first-served basis.
Make Your Mark
In celebration of The Big Draw 2019
Drawing is the first form of visual communication.
Communication connects people and communities. Through the Big Draw, Playeum connects different communities bringing us together to imagine and create.
Originating from the UK, The Big Draw Festival is the world’s biggest celebration of drawing. The Big Draw movement promotes visual literacy and the universal language of drawing as a tool for learning, expression and invention. Playeum has been representing The Big Draw movement in Singapore with seven events organised since 2010 for all to be part of.
Playeum makes its return as an organiser for The Big Draw 2019 in Singapore, with this year's theme looking at mark-making in our lives.
Letters of gratitude addressed to pencils and written by children during
Make Your Mark's pre-event workshop series.
Curator's Message
"I have always noticed ease when people of all ages use a pencil rather than any mark-making tool. Without fear or hesitation, they write, they doodle, they sketch, they draw and soon after they’ll ask, ‘Do you have colour pencils or paint or markers?’ It could be the pencil’s all-encompassing and embracing nature that captures our imagination on a canvas.
This is what Playeum embodies - the safe space to express and to make marks. To embody that quality, we are absolutely delighted to bring you Make Your Mark this coming October on Children’s Day weekend. This event is inspired by the very tool that first accompanied us in our doodling experience, the pencil. What better way to honor the tools of mark-making than to experience what it has done for us."

With lots of mark-making tools ready,
The Playeum Team
