Yes! So a new adventure starts for Playeum. If you have been to the Children’s Centre for Creativity, you’ve experienced the creative energy, seen how your imagination takes flight and how you may have come up with multiple solutions for what you are creating. That creative energy carries forth…
​
Just like everyone else, it has been a time of much change. A lot of the work we do with you has been in person and we’ve had to find creative means and ways of still keeping in touch. Since you can’t come to us for now and some unknown time ahead, we figured it would be best to find stronger ways to play together with you.
​
We are moving from our first Playeum home in Gillman Barracks and growing into different spaces all over as we move ahead - both in the real world and in the cyberworld.
Our mission to unleash the creativity and imagination in children and their ability to be active citizens still rings true, especially where we need to level the playing field for children from challenging backgrounds. Read more about our plans ahead below :)

The last five years at the Children’s Centre for Creativity has brought us wonderful memories! We made so many new friends (of all ages!) & collaborated with many inspiring individuals and groups, all who gave a little something in their own special way and made our space feel like home to many.
​
While we will miss the Centre, we know that we’re taking with us memories and experiences like no other as we move into our new Playeum adventure.
The sky is not the limit with our new adventure and we’re excited for what’s to come. It might look a little different, but we promise you it will be just as playful and meaningful as it has always been :) You’ll find us online and in different communities like schools, charities and social spaces alongside all children and their adults.
We thank you for being part of one of Playeum’s many adventures - the Children’s Centre for Creativity at Gillman Barracks. It’s a walk into the unknown but if you hold our hand, we’ll discover new adventures together!

 Playeum was started in 2008 to be a beacon for families and children in creating a safe space to express themselves and play differently. Founded by two mothers, Sumitra Pasupathy and Jennifer Loh, it began with them having their own children and wanting a different landscape for their development. |  As more research was done and the founders met more people around the world who were doing amazing work with children, they implemented the plan to have a dedicated children's space through roving experiences. |  Playeum started their journey as a roving pop-up, bringing open-ended experiences to different parts of Singapore. They started with a series of Big Draw events, with the very first one at Jurong Point. |  From neighbourhood void decks to outdoor spaces and cultural institutions such as National Museum of Singapore, The National Library and more, Playeum, worked with various artists and created open-ended play experiences that was accessible to anyone and everyone. |

 Playeum raised enough funds to move into its very own home at Gillman Barracks in September 2015 - the Children's Centre for Creativity. What started of as the key base for much of the work that Playeum does became a foundation. |
Playeum's journey so far...
 The Art of Speed was Playeum’s opening hands-on exhibition at the Centre. Children explored the essence of speed through diverse sensory and open-ended environments. The experience was based around four different but interconnected spaces that allowed for inspiration to travel in all directions. |  Hideaways - Creating with Nature invited children to explore, innovate and engage with nature and natural materials through hands-on exhibits and interactive artists’ installations. Each installation provided an interdisciplinary and engaging experience serving as an important reminder of the world’s ecosystem. |  A World Full of Stories provided unique environments and installations, within which children can create their own stories and immerse themselves in stories from different cultures. It fed children's imaginations, promoted creative literacy, encouraged social and emotional development and offered unrivalled opportunities for story-building and role-play. |  Focused on dreaming rooms, making spaces and creating places, ‘Making It Home’ celebrated the home as a source of creativity, artistry and thinking. The exhibition allowed children and parents to experience the home as a place where many ordinary materials can have multiple purposes and support imagination, innovation and sustainability. |

 Co-created by Playeum, Participate In Design and artists from D/SINI and The Animal Book Co, Going Play-ces invites all to explore Play-ces through various landscapes such as the sea, jungle, city and beyond. Children will experience and engage with their imagination, while thinking about sustainability, innovation and the role of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics) in everyday life and the future. |  I-Opener features the aesthetic and sensory play-worlds inspired by the artistic designs and creations of four artists with a disability, Dr Dawn-joy Leong, Cavan Chang, Sol Pickens and Jo Devadason. Co-curated and produced by Playeum's Creative Directors Imran Mohamad and Dr. Esther Joosa, and Tech Catalyst Din Chan, the exhibition invites children aged 1 to 12 to explore their senses through play and the arts. |
