Playeum at Home x Artist-in-Session
Free online workshops for ages 5 and above
We’re bringing you Playeum at Home with a twist - an exciting, come-experiment-with-artists twist!
As always, the Playeum at Home series looks at discovering different ways of experimenting, exploring, playing and creating with materials that we can find in our own homes or surroundings.
In the upcoming sessions, Artists Ranae Lee-Nasir and Isabelle Desjeux join us for our Playeum at Home online workshops that are FREE for all children aged 5-12 this November and December on Zoom Webinar.
Come join them as they take us through their world and introduce us to different ways of exploring art and more!
While its not absolutely compulsory, we do encourage for all child(ren) to join both parts of the workshop series :-) If you can only make it for one, that's okay too! Kindly pre-register your interest below and the Zoom details will be sent to you. Find out more about the workshops and what to prepare before joining below.

Part 1: Welcome to the Observatory - Friday, 20 November, 5:00pm to 5:45pm
Things are about to get he-avy/hevea in this two-part series with artist Isabelle! Join Isabelle as she takes us on a LIVE walk-through tour of her studio l’Observatoire, from the comfort of our own home.
From her hevea-related artifacts (rubber pods, rubber seeds, rubber seedlings, rubber-anything - you name it!) to microscopes, lab drawings and more, come get curious and wander along with us as we take a peek into some of Isabelle’s amazing artworks on display, and dive into the study of beautiful rubber trees.

Part 2: What do you see(d)? - Friday, 27 November, 5:00pm to 5:45pm
We may have seen some rubber trees around Singapore (or learned about it a little at Isabelle’s previous session), but there’s more to it than we know. Part two of the HEVEALOGY series explores the finer, deeper intricacies of rubber seeds! This session looks at the fascinating patterns that rubber seeds create and how you can set up your own exploration for it at home.

Isabelle Desjeux
Isabelle Desjeux is a Singapore-based artist and researcher. Using her training in Molecular Biology, she creates new kinds of scientific method-based artworks. Workingclosely with scientists, she encourages others to cross the divide and take on the role of scientist in her interventions, whether in a class, during a workshop, or as part of an installation. As such her work has often been labelled as participatory, with “experiment” being a strong part of her practice.
She received her MAFA from Lasalle (2011), was the recipient of the French-Singapore New Generation Artist (2011), and of a Lasalle Research Fellowship (2017). Her work has been exhibited in museums across Singapore, in Japan and USA. She teaches regularly across disciplines from pre-school to post-graduate level, and currently runs a residency space in a pre-school, inviting artists to experiment and let children into their processes.
